MEET THE TRAINER

Hi, I'm Izzy

I graduated from Hartpury University in 2022 with a First Class BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare where I deepened my love and passion for dogs and completed my dissertation on body language of pet dogs completing scentwork tasks as observed by handlers.

I have owned dogs since I was 5 and my childhood dog was the most special as she really taught me the true value of a dog’s love. I’ve worked with dogs in lots of capacities; kennels, rescue centres, training and day cares (where I work now) and am Dog First Aid qualified.

Through my degree I gained academic knowledge and my experience has allowed me to gain a variety of practical experience, combined this puts me in a confident position when it comes to understanding many breeds, their behaviour, and how is best to move forward for the dog and the owner. Over the years I’ve come to realise my favourite thing is letting dogs just be dogs and I feel the best way to do this is with games such as scentwork!

I strongly advocate for force-free training as I believe all relationships with dogs should be built on trust and respect.

After completing my UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze Instructor course I decided to launch Wild & Kind K9 as a combination of my main beliefs when it comes to dogs.

"We did the sniffer dog training with our cocker spaniel Steve. The course was amazing for him, seeing his tells and understanding his body language. Izzy was a fantastic teacher, setting up some interesting challenges. It’s also helped direct his sniffing technique and for us to learn other ways to occupy our spaniel. Would highly recommend Izzy’s training course and approach for anyone looking to harness a spaniel’s sniffing potential."
